As Miami is the melting pot of the US, we tend to think that Cuban cuisine has a higher hand with tostones and cortaditos fuming from every corner, but things here are changing and Miami is truly starting to get a piece of it all. Us, foodies? We’re ecstatic and one of things we’re most excited about it… AREPAS! Finally there is a place that has us saying “wepa!” every time, and that place is called Doggis Arepa Bar.
With recently opening their second location in the MiMo district, Doggis offers traditional Venezuelan food from tequenos, to Yuka fries, Chachapas, burgers, steaks, Pepito sandwiches and a whole lot of options to ordering your favorite arepa.
To focus on the most important (and favorite part) of the menu, Doggis offers over 20 kinds of arepas. Popular choices include the Arepa Santa Barbara with marinated churrasco, tomato, avocado and organic white shredded cheese, the Arepa De Pabellon with shredded beef, fried plantain, black beans and organic white cheese and arepa tripleta with combination of any protein, gouda cheese and reina pepiada.
My personal favorite? The Arepa Criolla with fried plantain, organic white cheese (queso de mano) avocado and added shredded chicken. #WEPA
